Thank you for allowing us in your house today. I don't need to tell you how lovely your home is. It is obvious in the family pictures all over, the cozy chairs and well kept spaces of every corner, that you take pride in your home. It does not seem necessary to describe how immaculate, comfortable and loved your home felt because you've known it for all these years you've lived there. What I would like to tell you is something you don't know and that is what this house will know if you accept our offer.
Our oldest, Grace, is a feisty and considerate 4 year old with her own imaginative agenda. We envision her exploring the backyard for snails, unicorns and bird nests. She will be happy to boss her little brother around as he follows her through the grass with stars in his eyes. We see ourselves having camp outs and water balloon fights and enjoying popsicles on the back deck.
Our 3 year old, Tyler, is a talkative, wild-child and we can picture him marching through the home, counting stairs and playing hide and seek in every closet. He would be fixated at the large front window on garbage day only to start squealing with excitement when the truck finally arrives.
My husband, Jeff, is a police officer. He's a hard worker with the love and loyalty of a thousand men. I know he looks forward to getting his hands dirty in the backyard on his days off, working out in the garage converted to a gym and walking our kids to their elementary school right down the street. I know he would feel just fine leaving for work, confident his wife and kids are cozy in a large home nestled in such a safe and friendly neighborhood.
I can see myself finding a space for my sewing machine and branching out in my new sewing hobby. I'd love to watch my children wrestle and play outside through those giant windows over the kitchen sink, do homework with them on the kitchen counter bar and to hear the laughter of our noisy family echo through the halls.
The last member of our family is a little one due this fall. A third baby we have hoped and dreamed for for quite some time and who is the reason we've decided we need a large home like yours. We don't know anything about this little one, but we do imagine the excitement we would feel taking him/her home from the hospital and walking through that front door with a brand new baby. For this to be our third child's very first home would give us such joy.
To picture ourselves as a family of 5, in the house you've called home for so many years, I think that's one thing you DO know about us. You already know the comfort and love we would feel.... you know because you've felt it for so many decades. You know because you've only started this home's list of family memories.
If the walls could talk, they'd tell countless stories and if we take your home as ours, it will tell so many more. Stories of love, stories of patience and mistakes, stories of a growing family. A story of a young couple who walked hand in hand, bringing with them all their hopes and dreams of the future, and instantly felt right at home the moment they walked through the door.
Sincerely,
Liz McHale
